![]() It can be a daunting thought deciding on a makeup look for your wedding day. Quite often a regular client of mine is one who saves wearing makeup for very special occasions and is minimal in her day-to-day makeup life. During wedding preparations it's important to start considering how you would like your makeup to be. With photography in mind you want to find the perfect balance where it's not too much so you still feel like yourself, but enough to enhance your natural features to show through your photo's and to most importantly feel your most beautiful self on your day as a bride! Continue reading to find out my most important tips to guide you through this process... 1 - Trust Your Artist Booking a professional is a must. Checking their portfolio is step 1. Go with one that has a similar makeup application style your looking for and also has bridal makeup experience. The right artist will be able to customise a look that's complimentary to you, especially if your unsure. A trained artist can help you choose which tones and colors best suit your skin tone, will enhance your natural features and to your personal style during a Trial Consultation. 2 - Natural Makeup VS Minimal Makeup The difference between the two are distinctive. Over the years I have discovered that everyone's idea of "Natural" is different. You must be specific with detail to your artist. Are you open to false lashes? Eyeliner? What skin coverage do you prefer? Search for bridal makeup inspiration picture's where the model has similar features to you. Your artist will re create your specific requests at your Trial Consultation to be as natural or as minimal as your comfortable with. Be sure any makeup inspiration pictures best depict the look your after and avoid filtered images of Kim Kardashian in full glam with a glitter brown smokey eye and winged out liner. 3- Pick A Feature Decide which feature you like best on yourself - Maybe it's your coloured eye's, your facial structure or your skin, and plan to base your makeup look around that. Should you want to accentuate your eyes - With your artist, plan and create a look that compliments their color or the shape of your eyes while keeping the rest of the look fairly soft. Say your not fond of eyeshadow, always aim of soft and natural/neutral tones and accentuate your beautiful cheekbones or naturally full lips. The aim is balance. You want to avoid "too much going on" and especially if you seldom wear makeup. This tip will help guide you to your perfect makeup look that's best suited to your features. This way you'll still feel like you and have a boost in confidence because your makeup will naturally enhance what you already are most confident about. Remember your wedding day makeup should always be personally customised to you and don't be afraid to add some of your personality and personal style to it!
